"Beth says so-and-so has money. I say, "money isn't everything, or even anything. It's not even in the equation," Beth disagrees"

I read that and wonder how in a year that may have changed. Has it changed? I feel I need security,..but i don't think I am gold digger. And I don't care if we are poor, if we are the epitome of O Henry's Gift of the Magi, I would live on love alone. However, in the past year I feel that my eyes have opened to the fact that although money is still not everything, or anything,... It is needful for having a family, and raising children. I need money to pay for them. I need that stability and security. Is that wretched? I would NEVER marry someone just because they had money, tho.
